Past Events: Meeting
We have postponed our May 23-24 steering committee meeting.
The Department of the Interior is undertaking a review of the more than 200 boards, commissions, subcommittees and other internal and external advisory bodies (committees) that have authorization to meet periodically and solicit input. This review will ensure compliance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act, the President's recent executive orders, and the Secretary's recent executive orders.
The Aleutian & Bering Sea Islands LCC, the U.S. Coast Guard, NOAA, Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association, and Alaska Sea Grant are co-hosting a workshop discussion on what a Waterway Safety Committee might look like that covers the Aleutians. This discussion will be held in Unalaska on April 26th but interested participants can join online as well.
The North Atlantic LCC Steering Committee will meet Norfolk Waterside Marriott, Ballroom 1 in Norfolk, VA to determine how to together to fully utilize recently completed products from a landscape conservation design for the Northeast region, called Nature’s Network, to advance the implementation of conservation in priority areas identified at the fall meeting.
Logistics
Hotel: There is a room block reserved for us at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Downtown Wichita under the title Great Plains Landscape Conservation Coop - US Fish & Wildlife Services. We were able to negotiate the federal rate for the nights of April 10-11.
This Alaskan LCC-sponsored meeting will take place in Fairbanks, Alaska on March 19-23. Abstract submission for presentations and posters for the March 2017 Alaska Chapter - American Fisheries Society and American Water Resources Association joint meeting is now open. Interested presenters may submit their information online. Abstracts will be due by February 10th.
During this steering committee conference call, actions in the annual budget and action plan will be reviewed and approved.

Decision Summary
Miguel “Toño” García, the new U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Caribbean LCC Coordinator, will discuss the new direction of the CLCC and CLCC Protected Areas Conservation Action Team member will discuss methods used for new configuration of protected areas in Puerto Rico.
The next Gulf Coast Prairie face-to-face Steering Committee meeting, to be held in Kingsville, TX.
